12v power after ignition is off?

Hi Guys

Any easy way of allowing the 12v power sockets in the dash to have power after ignition is off? just really need it to charge headsets etc when not using them!

THANKS!

Andy

You have to run a new line from the few live wires that are behind the centre console.
OR you could buy a Yellow Top Optima battery & have that running all your electrical stuff you need when the iginition is off Smile
There's a group buy currently running...... Thumbs Up

EDIT Here it is

Laughing Laughing Nice plug Bodsy Thumbs Up

I would just run a wire to one of the existing 12V sockets directly from the battery if possible....don't forget an inline fuse.

Be careful connecting/powering stuff off of these 'permanent' 12V lines inside the car...

The CJB knows the amount of current that different circuits should be consuming at all times (even when the car is locked)....if you up the power consumption by piggybacking into existing circuits, then it could simply shut these off, blow a fuse or throw out error codes.

Of course, you will probably be ok, but just to be sure....

Dunno about LR but my MG could have the sockets configured by the Testbook to be either on or off after the ignition was switched off

you need some wireless electricity :

"Wireless electricity is a quite new find by the scientists in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and basically it is a technique how to deliver power to devices that are a bit further. All the system is based on physics laws and actually it is quite surprising that it was not discovered and developed some time ago.

Wireless electricity or as it is sometimes called: witricity is probably the way of the future as it can decrease the costs of power delivery, thus decreasing the costs not only for the consumer but also the manufacturer of the power as wireless electricity will cut down the costs of taking care of the electricity systems more than you can imagine. The reason behind it is that simply there will be no more electricity systems to take care of as all the electricity is transferred wireless.

Of course, scientists are still developing and improving the system and it will probably still take some time until it is completely foolproof, but do not be surprised if even in few years wireless electricity will be introduced to the general public with all the benefits that it will bring to the consumers, producers and of course also the environment."

have a word with Wiggs'y, Im sure he has experimented with this already Thumbs Up , he seems to have done everything else 8)

Some of our boffins have been using that in the development of e-paper......

Can you imagine, walking around teh natural history museul & getting an updated guide transmitted to you as you go through each area & changing the properties of the e-paper.

Cool eh!

Very cool, but will the e-paper work with the ignition switched off? Whistle

Not if you're carrying around a lovely Optima Yellow Top Battery. If you want one Paul, I'll be in BCN first and last week of June Thumbs Up
