was wondering whether anybody else had had problems/experience with the top of the steering wheel cracking and becoming rough at the 12 o'clock position?
granted i drive with one hand in the 12 o'clock quite a bit but hey - dont we all..?
gonna take it in the stealers to see what they reckon and see if a cant wangle a new wheel You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.
You should be able to get it done if you're still in warranty jimbo - do you go to Roger Young or Matford? The warranty lady at Roger Young saw my problem steering wheel a couple of weeks back, so they should already know about the problem!Previously:

I do drive with my hand at 12 oclock (Sorry JMC) and my wheel has started to get sticky and is crusty on top.
Now out of warranty although this is a known problem so it may be worth appealing to LR to see if they are the caring type.
I may make an approach this week so I'll update on results.
Anyone out there know what the dealers views are on this one TDV6 HSE - Light Guards - White Reflective Sticker

If you have a good dealer who values your continued custom, they will probably be sympathetic. Mine was, and I am 6 months out of warranty with plenty of miles on. It seems to be a common problem. The new steering wheel seems to have a better quality leather, with a nice matt finish.

Hi Guys,
Images of driving with one hand (at 12 o'clock) on the steering wheel and the other around my squeeze.
Not easy to achieve, now that bench seats are gone.
Hi Plenty of us in Australia have had the wheel do the same thing well inside warranty, the strong sun sent the poorly prepared leather on mine off after 2 years. I have also had the air bag replaced in the centre of the wheel as the cover curled up along the top edge. No questions at all at the delaers here to replace these things.TDV6
