Does the 12v socket in the rear stay live ? |
|
I am going camping over xmas and planned to use a 12v invertor for some small 240V lights. does anyone know if the 12v socket in the rear stays live when the ignition is turned off or is it only on for a period of time till the Can bus shuts down ?
Thanks

Blimey that was one quick response
Do you know if I will get problems if I just take it straight off the battery instead ?

Other than a potential flat battery, no - you could always use the trailer socket connections - there should be a permanent live there for the 'S' socket

Now thats a great idea, it's off to the tow shop for me to get a plug to fit in the socket. Just need to find the pin out somewhere on the net.

Pin 4 carries the permanent 12v supply and Pin 3 or Pin 7 can be used for the return (earth)

I am suprised at TFC's learned response as with my 2005, factory towing kit, I had cause to recharged a flat battery via the white socket. [???Okay then. The fit in the garage is too tight, battery too flat to turn motor; could not open bonnet. Rubbed head thought see if sockets live ;it was so re charged via that. Engine started 4 hours or so later]
Will have to check the new 2007 jobbie out; needs to be warmer down there.
