MY 14 D4 won't open....at all!!!

Evening all... Small issue! Parked D4 on drive at side of house, now to say it's a bit of a tight squeeze is an understatement as I had to climb out of the boot😂😂 but I have needed to use the D4 today after having stood for 5 days but the bigger will not let me back in😱😱 I've changed the batteries in the fobs... Still nowt.... Had to remove a fence panel to get to passengers side door lock to use key... The key doesn't work!! Any ideas bar putting the side window in??? Anyone know how to open the bonnet from the outside so I can check if it's a flat battery?

Have a go at the passenger lock with the key again.
If its not been used before it will be very stiff and will take a lot of effort, so much that you think you're gonna break it!

Am I right in thinking the door lock turns counter-intuitive direction?

Did it once to make sure I knew how ... and I've clearly forgotten Embarassed

Have you tried just opening the boot?

Do you have towing electrics you could test at that for any power with a multimeter? Also potentially charge via the correct socket?

Towing Connector is best bet if it has one.

There is a lead available in the site shop to plug into the white towing socket, and connect to a CTEK charger.

Tried the key in lock (with pliers) turning it, in both directions just in case, absolutely nothing! No towing electrics either so I can't test that to see if there is an power. Is there any way to open the bonnet from the outside?... Could it be an indication that a new car battery may be required?

Just put multimeter on white plug and it's reading 8.65v , I'm assuming it should be closer to 11 or 12??

Should be over 12v, 12v to a minimum.
Think you have found your problem.
Need to either charge via socket or get bonnet open to change battery?
Not a clue how you do this from outside?

Get a slave battery, and connect -ve to an earth (chassis will do) Get a wire from the +ve of the battery to the bottom pin on the white socket. Perhaps use a small crocodile clip or a probe, and get someone to hold it on. It’s pin 4 on the socket. Unlock the car, and open the bonnet.

You can then charge or change the battery.

From such a low voltage level attaching a slave battery may provide too many amps for the tow electrics.

Higher amperage devices should be connected to chassis ground and the starter / alternator cable. As always, have an axle stand or other suitable support under the vehicle to give you survival space before crawling under the engine bay. When the vehicle wakes from low power it can get a bit exciting with the suspension(!).

Agreed, he could however, connect a battery charger in the same way?

I'd suggest that the very low battery voltage will indeed mean battery is in poor health. Which will mean it is reluctant to accept charging current... so if you don't have a smart charger, it's worth a go with a slave battery.

Ok, tried charging via tow socket for 5 hrs battery not taking the charge, called RAC out...put 12v through starter motor while I pressed the unlock button on the fob.... that didnt work!! Tried emergency key in lock again still didnt work... any ideas as to why this doesnt work?? RAC suggested a locksmith, if the key wont work how will this help?? I think that this is going to end up with the window being the only option left if the bonnet cannot be opened from the outside or from underneath?
