19" 'All Terrain' Tyre options |
|
Apologies if I'm repeating previous topics but I can't find much in the way of AT tyres in 255/55/19. I think MTR's are a bit excessive for the amount of road milleage I do, and the scorpions seem to be a hellish price. Can't see much else other than road tyres available.
I've got Goodyear HP all-weathers on at the minute and the front pair are about ready for changing. I've just discovered a green-laning club in my local area which I've been wanting to try for the last year, so I thought it was time to get some 'beefier' tyres (and keep my rear HP's as spares).
My brother has the General Grabbers on his D3 with 18" wheels and they seem a good compromise but I can't get them in 19".
Can anyone help? What do you guys with 19" wheels have fitted? Am I overdoing it wanting all-terrain tyres? Will a new set of HP all-weathers handle a bit of green-laning? I know it depends how 'serious' it gets, but the other club vehicles are all highly modified and seem quite cautious about me taking a standard car on one of their runs. First time I'll go as a passenger to see what's-what (getting off-topic now so I'll stop rambling and post a new topic about green-laning vehicle prep!)
Cheers for any help/advice.
Rich.

I think the Pirelli ATR is the only option available for an ATR tyre in 19"
Try PMing AJS Tyres or forum member Ken for prices I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

ATR only non road option other than the MTR in 19's, though to be honest I have done several lanes and play sites on the HP's and didn't get stuck once. If I was driving the car everyday and doing less than 5% mileage off road, I would probably stick with road tyres (except of course it is a G4 which should have MTR's as standard ) Craig

Thanks guys!
I think you're right - the HP's will probably do the trick for the small amount of off-roading I'll be doing, and maintain the good ride/grip on the road.
Right, I better PM the guys mentioned above and see what sort of prices I can get a new pair for the front. Cheapest I've seen are £165 each on blackcircles....
Thanks again for all the responses

when factoring the cost, remember that the ATR's are probably a slightly harder compound so will last longer, this might mean the extra cost is justifiable I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.
