1st impressions
OK I've had the new D3 since Saturday and have decided ...yes it is a lovely vehicle!
mines a SE spec manual which was a small cause for concern as the Auto box ones seem to be preferred, but I have to say I do like to stay involved in my driving and it's not like you have to keep stirring the box as the engine is just so torquey!
I picked it up from a local Jaguar dealers who had it as a P/X but they've been more than fair on their customer service (still got a slight issue on the read PDC but the service manager said to bring it in when passing and they'll investigate).
MPG is hovering around 25 at present but as my other car is a TD5 Disco2 that's no issue (the one previous to that was a 330bhp Volvo estate which made high 20s .... 20.7 for everyday use but showed 4mpg when I put my foot down )
I will probably have a few questions over the next couple of weeks but as a newbie to DISCO3 I have to say I'm getting a good vibe from you lot

I had a manual SE as well. I do miss the increased MPG since I bought our HSE. Both are fine IMHO

Re:1stimpressions
Hi,
We are 1 month into the ownership of our first d3. A 55 plate manual se with 96k on the clock.
Quality
Even though it is an "old" car the quality and hence price of the d3 is there to be seen. Even with that mileage the seats are excellent, interior trim still all in tact etc. For example seat in my 3 yr old company cars are worse after 3 years. Paintwork excellent until some scratched it yesterday"........ Looks like on purpose!
Economy
Not too happy, av 23 but we live on the side of a mountain and don't do many long runs. She got 26 on a longer mixed run yesterday. We go up to Scotland soon so we will tell better then
Drive
Pure luxury, comfortable etc. A little bit of roll but hey I love it. I thought it would be a little quicker as a v6 but the power band is different to my passat (company car). The v6 roar is brilliant
Overall
I wish it was mine and not the mrs car. Trouble is now I want one and the passat although quicker does not cut it in terms of feel. The d4 is on the company car list"......... 16 months til I get a new car
