Thanks, Pete! That's really good news because the Jag engine should be easier to find, and cheaper (or so I've been told).
You got me thinking... I should check what the replacement engine from LR costs here... If it's close to the UK price, it might be a better choice than gambling with a used one. Especially since I really like the car and hope to drive it for years to come.

One day and a bunch of phone calls later, the idea of ~£4000 for a new engine is getting more and more appealing. Which brings me to the question: is the £4000 for a whole engine or a short block? Also, do I go through a dealer or contact LandRover directly?

Have you tried bearmach? They said something about replacement engines when I was in there a while back. Jarrod

Bearmach supply NWS engines, which I wouldn't touch with anyone else's money...
You local dealer has them at £4095 + VAT retail (minus any discount)
And if said dealer is in the trade programme, it can be had even cheaper (though officially, it has to be sold to a garage...) My D3 Build Thread

"Trade programme"? As in, I send them my old engine and they give me a discount on the new one? Or is it some programme for a special category of customers?
By the way, if I'm hijacking this thread with my questions and it's better to start a new one instead, please let me know. Also, not a native speaker., so please excuse errors in language.
