It may just be a battery thing. Check your connections are tight and as you've only just bought it, has it been standing fir a while? Could be just a one off  Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Slimer, may well take you up on that offer. It hasn't happened since so I'm hoping it was just a glitch. However will still get the ECU read to see if its flagged up a specific issue.
