2 post ramp question.
Wondering if someone with a 2 post ramp can give me some advice. I am looking for a measurement of where a disco 3/4 would be in relation to the Lift posts, with my workshop I am looking to have the back end of the car around 2 feet from the roller door to give me plenty of room in front. Could anyone give me a measurement say between wheel centres of where the lift posts should be as I know they are not centered for weight distribution.

All depends on the lift you get, some have asymmetric arms, some don't.Richard

When you say asymmetric do you mean one arm set is longer than the other ? In the case of the one I have then yes the one set are longer.

Another dumb question time. Normally I assume the shorter ramp legs go toward the front of the vehicle ? So that the lighter rear end uses the longer arms as a counterweight ? The manual is quite vague on this unless I’m missing something....Jarrod

Yes that's correct well that's how mine is, fortunately I haven't had any rear or mid engine cars on it to confuse my small brain.Stu

This is for the non asymmetrical arms
Put short arms at the front - lifting location is on the chassis level with the back of the front wheel. There is a reinforced section with like a rod welded to it. That's the place
Put the long arms at the rear - lifting location is on the chassis level with the front of the rear wheels. Watch for compressor and fuel tank.

Just a thought. Have you tested hoist without anything on it. As it goes up you should hear only one "clunk" if you hear two "clunks" the cables need adjusting so that it lifts the car level.

Globetrotter... no not tested yet, the base plate is on the floor, the next job is to build and rig/ test it. Thank you for all you help guys, I’ll do some measuring to make sure I get the ramp in the right place.

That’s the bit that confused me... the whole issue was the posts position in relation to wheelbase so that I can utilise the most space in the workshop. Jarrod

Well with help of 4 rather large blokes I’ve got the ramp in position and assembled. Time for some confusion. It won’t work. The up button on the remote makes a buzzing noise within the command leg, the down button on the main panel also produces the Same sound but without the hydraulic pump kicking in. I haven’t disconnected any wiring and the only thing that’s happened is the cable tension micro switch got pulled off which I’ve redone according to the wiring diagram in the book. Talk about a head scratch. It sounds like it’s jammed on a stop but if you take the weight with the command leg it’s still not having it. Anyone on here have any ideas ?
Ended up being a loose wire in the control panel. All working now. Shove the disco in on the weekend and hopefully have the body off then. Jarrod
