transfer box nerves
hi feeling brilliant now driving round knowing that i've changed all my oils ..gearbox,engine and filter ,front and rear diffs and fuel filter. BUT i am a bit nervous about doing the transfer box because of all the horror stories iv read about. How can just changing the oil make it needing this re-calibration [1] how much does it cost and [2] is it safer to let a garage do it .cheers daz

What ?????
You don't need to do any calibration after changing a T-case oil.1.5 liters goes in and that is it.
Common practice is also change a copper washers on both drain and fill oil plugs.
What horror stories ? what mode lyear of an Disco are you talking about ?

That happened to mine ( and a few others),when a LR dealer changed the txfr box oil on a routine service, (not sure if it was just a coincidence)..... I was concerned that it may happen again when I changed the oil recently, but it didn't, fortunately. To be fair, this has only happened the once, in the 10 1/2 yrs (72,000 miles) that I have owned the vehicle from new. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.
