I am sorry to hear that. I had my D5 taken from in front of my house last week. Police closed the case within hours so I doubt it will turn up. If/when I get a replacement (had just renewed the insurance and had had to negotiate to negate the 49% auto-renew 'loyalty' premium), I'll get another Stoplock Pro, but am thinking about one of those Airtag things from Apple. Not sure if anyone has any views on this?

I have airtags, one limitation though is that if said thief has an iphone after a certain time/distance it will notify that there is an airtag following them that isn't registered to their account, effectively tipping them off that there's something tracking and then ripping apart starts

Do you know how they took this? Was it stolen with keys…? The D5 has the new security system and thus was meant to be immune from rebroadcasting the signal from keys inside the house.

After reading these posts, I stepped up my security.

Though I do have cctv (for family safety, I can work away a bit) and a Wheel stop lock, I recently had a s7 tracker and a Ghost Immobiliser.

They have a 0% deal on at the moment, spread over 4 months and a deal on the S7.

So apart from locking it in a steel box underground, I think thats about as far as I will go!

The fitter told me that in the several years he had been fitting these, he had not had one stolen unless it was on a flat bed, and even then I can be tracked for a period.

Sorry to hear and lots of security features mentioned.

Another idea - have you thought about owning one that isn't a top spec - maybe less desirable to the the criminals? Something like a well spec'd XS on the inside but still XS on the outside. I'm possibly going down a dead-end here depending on what it is be stolen for - ram raiding the local newagent I guess it would not matter but to export overseas then I guess it would.

My other thought on increasing security on the vehicle itself may make you and your family a target if they are desparate to get it off your drive. I would prefer they took it without bothering me personally and if I could make my car less attractive as a package I would do.

To be honest, all we are doing is moving the thieves on to pick some other poor souls machine. Im going down the route that if they have to spend time stealing mine, they may look for a easier target. The people who steal these are not opportunists, they have the right tools and a plan.

All you can ever hope for is to deter and slow them down, but you cant let them run your life for you.

Id never have a RS4 or RS6 sat on my drive for the fear of the lengths scum go to, to pinch those. D3/4’s are not cheap cars, and have equally as proud owners, but they are lower down the wanted list for a certain type of youthful, drug dealer oxygen thief (and as the D3/4 gets older, dare I say the D5 will replace them).

Non of it makes the impact of you car being stolen any easier to accept (Ive had 2 non LR’s stolen, My Dad had his 90 taken too). I can only feel sorrow and pain for the original
OP

Just protect it as much as you can afford to and a few bits that relate to common sense (previously mentioned) and go to sleep accepting you have done as best as you can.

Thieves with good taste won't bother with a D5 - they go for a new Defender or D4. Whistle

Very sorry to hear this.

Hopefully my new Defender has the passive key technology. I’ve added a Stoploc pro, Cat 5 tracker and cctv all around the house. My F Type has now got a space in the garage. The poor old S2a has to live outside, but it too has a stop lock.

Thankfully on FB this morning the local bobbies have collared some scrotes for theft. There has been a lot of it around Stockport recently.

Good, can we not do a deal with the Russian Prison service and send them to a gulag?
