ISTR RonP was reccomending the 20" Grabber UHP's on the 20" rims he was running UNTIL he got the Cooper LTZ's 8)

275/45x20 are the closest size to the standard 18 or 19's for the D3, although a few of us are running slightly larger, at 295/45x20 or 265/50x20 (as in my case).
You should be looking for 111 or higher weight rating.

So some people are going slightly higher/larger, why's that? to increase the mpg on touring? 57 RRS TDV8

no real reason, other than personal preference. I tried 275/45's on my first set of 20's, 295/45 on my second set, and settled on 265/50's on my current set.
275/45's looked a bit "weedy"
295/45's look great (big and beefy)
265/50's look good and dont tramline as much as the 295's did, and I thought were a slightly better ride, but this could be down more to tyre brand.

Looks like I'm swaying towards the 295 GT Grabber UHP's 
Do you know how well they wear? Sorry for all the questions as I said before, totally new to large 4x4's. 57 RRS TDV8

RonP was running Grabber UHP's, and from what I saw with mine, they wear very well (ie very little wear). I've been really impressed with the Yokohama's I've got now, as although Yoko's have a reputation for being soft (track day tyres), I've done over 10k miles now and they are still at 6mm from 8mm start.

I run 20" stormers on 109 rated rubber and have no issues whatsoever. D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Been on the 295 Grabbers for 25k & they are wearing very well, i would say easily another 10k in them, maybe a bit more. Really happy with the tyre & ride and what more they come at a decent price.

But be careful on later model years, they rub a tad on full lock.
The edge of the tyre grazes the end of the lower wishbode and that protruding thing behind the wheel.
Slimer pointed it out to me on Sunday but I don't know what it's called.
probably better to stick to 45's if running my08 and later I think
it is.
My 295/45 grabbers didn't rib at all if that helps Welcome "Lola"

Gary, might be wrong, but reckon it's the width rather than the profile [height] that will foul that offending bit of metal.
I've not seen it, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Probably a combination of both Ron?
Taller and chuckier sidewalls, their 10mm narrower than uhp"s but have that lovely chunky tread lol.
I'm sure after a few thousand miles they'll stop rubbing as the tread wears down on the edges.
No worries anyway, it's a minor issue
All balanced perfectly thanks to Ken so running smoothly and coped well with the ruff stuf at the weekend and the sand at hogmoor so pretty pleased so far.
Will be interesting to see how they cope in the wet. Am figuring they could provide a bit of lively handling!!
