Which tires should I go for?

I'm torn between 2 options for new tires. I came across an advert for set of second hand general grabber all terrain ( about 2k miles done still good tread) on 20 inch range rover storm alloys for 650 pound. Think Disco would look good on bigger alloys. From other hand I was interested in new cooper discoverer all terrain for my current 18 inch alloys. So question is whether used general grabber with bigger alloys or new cooper on my current alloys? 🤔

Havent a clue on the tyres but in my experience the larger the wheel the lower the tyre profile the worse the ride.

Yeah, the general grabber are 275/40. For cooper I was looking at 275/60 or even 70.

EDIT: goocior, I just read your profile and I think I would stay with the 18s.

ORIGINAL REPLY: For good roads choose the lower profile (suffer the odd rough ride) and have better cornering, etc.; for the rougher roads or even off-road stay with the 18s and the taller profile.

But having said that go for the one that you can happily replace cost wise when the time comes.

My own tyre is the 17" with either 255/65 or 245/70 profiles depending on prices when I replace the set.

* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

You need to check the size and spec of tyre if they have come off a RRS.

The 40 aspect you quote makes me think they are RRS sized tyres which are not suitable for the Disco.

Weight rating should be 110 or 111 for Disco For RRS it will be around 106/107.

The General AT has a reputation for developing a very distinctive rumble especially as it wears more.

The 20 inch wheels been sold so guess problem is solved, I'm getting coopers for my 18 inch alloys. Thanks for all your comments

In the last year I’ve had Pirelli scorpions, Wrangler Duratracs, and now BFG at KO2. The BFGs are my personal favourite on the 18” compomotives and are going to be thoroughly tested this weekend at Mudfest. From what I’ve heard The Cooper STT are amazing as a mud but some of the other coopers have paper thin sidewalks and overall have not lasted well.

Oh… and ARB Front and Rear Air Lockers

So I was actually thinking not of stt but at3. I used to have pajero on bfg at and loved them however I'm not too sure about them on Disco 3 from the visual perspective. It might be only my personal taste. Seen on Instagram guy in Switzerland having his disco on cooper at3 and it looked good.
