Hi I'm mike it's my first post but I've been watching for a few years now. I've bought the car that I've wanted for a long time a 2004 dark grey tinted windows cream leather.i probably paid over the top for it 5k but it's got 117k and a full service .since I've had it I've put new side steps on it.
I've bought the extended roof bars but on the videos it's showing a gromit on the front of the car above the driver's head.well looking I don't have one there.
I read somewhere on here about full lock when driving slow making a noise and it could be a transfer box reset or something to do with a iid tool.
Since I've had it it's like it's slipping and shakes just before it changes gear and also holds on to the gears.
Would the iid tool sort this out and the two part oil filter with new oil at a cost of around £ 600 or should I just take it to the place in Bristol.
Any advice on both roof bars and auto box would be great .
Thanks mike

Have it looked at may need a flush on the auto box bristol transmissions have a good reputation its about £400-450 for an IDD tool but well worth it if you intend on keeping the car for a while
And welcome to the mad house Discovery 3 se gone

Welcome Mikeal.
for Bristol Transmissions: https://www.bristoltransmissions.co.uk/ - a good starting point, unless there's clear evidence that the transmission has been Mega Flushed.
Have a look at this search:-

welcome, im quite new too and going through the same things ( my disco is currently in the garage for a gearbox flush because of a judder)
as for the roof rails you may not have a gromit but there may be a nut hidden under the black metal( plastic coated) capping that sits on top of the channel which you replace with the roof rail. The capping is easy enough to remove just some plastic plug holding it in and then a clip at the front. If you start by pulling the plastic plugs out then carefully lifting the capping from the back of the disco it will come off.
I fitted short roof rails to mine and had to cut the capping 1/2 way as the rails replace it in the chanel. I not sure about extended rails though Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Hi Mike new here also.
I booked mine in for a flush as preventative (184k) although I was getting hunting at low revs between gears, I put this down to something else not gearbox or converter. Anyway had the garage check and road test prior to carrying out the flush as didn't want spend on flush if there was an underlying issue. Flush carried out no more hunting between gears.
