2005/2006 differences, Discovery 3 SE |
|
I was told by a salesman that there were quite a few upgrades (eg sat nav) on a 2006 se model compared to a 2005 se. Can anyone here confirm this? Or was this a ploy to get me to spend more money and go over my budget...
thanks

Salesman is talking ballcocks!!
2005 SE has sat nav, leather etc.
However the SE lost many of the standard specs as time went on.
ie, Xenons, Heated Rear Seats ........
Also all newer models in general lost out.
ie number plate plinth, windscreen ticket holders .......
I'm sure someone else will come along and elaborate on the detail I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Thanks, but maybe I should have clarified. The salesman said that for example, the sat nav on an 06 was improved over the 05 model, tweaks if you like.
On a side note, i am holding out for a manual d3/05 rather than a auto d3 (because I prefer manual, and also slightly better fuel economy ).

The sat nav is on CD so you can buy the 2010 disc for £150. I bet the difference in price between the two vehicles is slightly more than that!! 2014 D4 XS
2005 D3 SE - Gone

Hi line stereo
front only PDC
Heated Leather electric adjust front seats
heated outer two rear seats
heated screen, mirrors, washer jets etc (winter pack stuff)
Xenons, front fogs.
HSE added (I think ) auto box, roof rails, sun/moon roof, full size spare, 19" wheels, lower cubby cooler box, prem Nav and HK stereo and was almost £42k
(had the same seats as the SE)
after the summer shutdown they had a 2006.5 model for a bit;
SE lost Xenons, added front PDC and maybe the roof rails ( can't really remember )
HSE gained rear air-con, adaptive Xenons and I'm sure something else ....
and went up to £44.5k
it all changed in the new year of 2006 when they fiddled with the specs again
HTH and theeeeennn......???

For a SE at the time of transition from MY05 to MY06 the only changes were:
- Mud flaps deleted
- Reduced section spare wheel introduced

Fridge and roof rails deleted too mate Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

To go back to the original question, the sat nav system hardware, interface, etc is no different between 2005MY and 2009MY.
Upgraded maps are available on DVD from LR dealers including our site sponsors, or from Navteq.
I'm not sure when "destination-on-the-move" was made standard on the nav, but 2006MY didn't have it - perhaps it was 2007MY - but it can be enabled by a dealer or independent on any age system 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Thanks to all who replied.
I dont think i will bother with that model the salesman was trying to get me interested in.
Just a question from a newbie...what does "MY.." stand for?

MY = Model Year
Generally a model year runs from about July or August, so about 4 months ahead - so for example the 2007MY ran from ~ August 2006 to ~August 2007
You can find the model year of a D3 (any Land Rover, in fact) from the VIN number, see http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/VIN_Details 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

It was'nt on my original Disc (55plate), but when I upgraded to a 2008 Disc I was able to use the SatNav on the move, albeit ONLY pre-stored destination/POI etc etc

My MY06 SE (March so still £215 road tax) has :-
Front/Rear heated seats
Cool Box
Front/Rear Parking sensors
HK Stereo
No Xenon's tho
etc
I went for this over a MY56 as that seemed to have less plus higher tax bracket. D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR
