That's fine until the original owner comes around your house wanting it back...

Looks like a good buy - but little time to go & no chance to inspect before sale.

Thought it looked way over priced, esp as "only" a manual. Whistle

POCA D3

This car was sooooooooo nearly my first D3!!! I had the highest bid until 2 seconds to go and got sniped!!
To be fair, it was a gamble, but I set my budget, added £1k for service, recovery, battery and that was it...
I have to say, I'm a little Sad
I had hoped my first post would be more Very Happy
Having said that, I would not have even bid if I hadn't joined this site and both learned the D3's good and bad point. The site also gave me confidence in the groups' knowledge and passion. I tend to keep cars a long time, so I'm still looking for the right one...
(Black with black leather, manual, just in case anyone reads this...) Wink

As I understand it, it will have been taken by police under the Proceeds of Crime Act POCA and it was bought with probably drug money or similar. It would never have been owned by the police as it remained the property of the accused bad guy until a court case 6 years later. The court says "yes" it was bought with the proceeds of crime so Mr Bad guy loses it. The police, who then stored it as evidence for 6 years, are then ordered by the court to "dispose" of it. Over to ebay....
It probably will have only ever been moved when they needed to rearrange the garage, it would never have been serviced and the battery would be knackered. All they will have tried to do is minimise any problems in case it had to go back to the owner (ie to reduce the claim for losses)
I thought it was a reasonable punt, bodywork would be great. Mechanicals would need some love and attention, but who knows what 6 years of being idol would do to a car!?
The only thing I was not too keen on was the cream leather, but I would manage for a 19k miles car.
Still looking...... Whistle

Unnecessary quote removed

Suspension and handbrake fault could just be a knackered battery though... couldn't they?

still looking...

Probably not, probably something seized on. I wouldn't worry about things lie that, they are just par for the course on a D3. I'd be wondering about more pricey things that may be waiting in the wings, dried out seals springs to mind. Wil be interesting see how it runs after standing virtually unused for so long.
