Thx Mate, 15mm will not help much though. It is good for levelling only.
I will have to work on increasing the speed before normal height is selected. I really would not want to tamper with the height rods. I had a bad experience earlier this year, meeting a Kudu buck by accident. The only reason I am alive is because I could swerve and slap it sideways to prevent it from entering the windscreen. The car would have rolled over if the suspension was extended; speed being 60 mph, with neigh 90 degree swerve! Howz that for the Elk Test
Best vehicle around, me thinks
Thanks again for the great info, should have joined YEARS ago Live Life, do Africa!

Again from deepest depths of my memory, I seem to recall its not hard to change the rods, so some people have bought spare rods, modified them, and then change them over for long off-road sessions. I think...
I thought the D3 knew when it was beached and went extended in any case? Or when driving in sand (no expert) does it all happen to fast and before you know it a Toyota driver is putting you on youtube while you break out the shovel?!

HI Growler
Gimme a call/pm if you need to chat about the Faultmate - I have done pretty much all the mods that can be done with it, including the suspension height increase etc. and can talk you thru the processes if need be.
We have quite a few MSV2 here in JHB - Heine also has one

By the way, I have driven thousands of km with the suspension raised by 15mm, and there is no noticeable difference in handling. Granted, I have the special shocks, but then this is also with the STT's on.
If you want to drive test, letme know

Hi Wiggs!
Sorry - I should have made myself more clear, I was responding to Growler:" I had a bad experience earlier this year, meeting a Kudu buck by accident. The only reason I am alive is because I could swerve and slap it sideways to prevent it from entering the windscreen. The car would have rolled over if the suspension was extended"

Baben,
Thanks again for the info. I am Alberton way, but will definitely make an effort to come see you when in the area.
Coming back to 'beaching' the car at 50km/h, it happens too fast for the electronics / airbags to react, putting the belly flat on the dune, wheels spinning like . I have to say, what a brilliant car! On all occasions I could raise the vehicle and reverse out of trouble. Toyotas did not like it at all! NO recovery hehehehe
The way I went about it eventually was to keep to 40km/h in Auto, sand mode, low range, hit the dune and floor it. The V8 sang songs that made grown men cry (with joy I have to add) and ladies...we will leave it at that I have much more torque on hand with the exhaust conversion, and it did the job well carrying us over the dunes.
'nuf of that. Car going in to dealer tomorrow for scraping noise. They changed the front diff to no avail. Me thinks it may be the handbrake drum mech, but will let them do the rear diff as well (just in case ya know). Live Life, do Africa!

Got the car back from LR, they recon the rear diff is at fault. Apparently some coating inside the casing flaking, ending up in the gears and bearings. It is such a common problem that LR exchange the diff for a factory recon and replace it same day. Not bad service, but worrying. Will this happen every 50 - 70K km? It costs under 10 grand (ZAR) if out of warranty - not nice.
Any one else with the same problem? I could not find any info under the probelms & fixes sections. Live Life, do Africa!
