2009 discovery 3 dash problem, please help!

Hi guys, wonder if anyone could advise me, my dash, i.e. Speedo, rev counter, clock etc completely cuts out when driving, no engine problems at all! All completely turns off, often flashes like a loose connection?
Be grateful for any advice.

Sounds like you have a cracked solder joint, its quite common and caused by the lead free solder they started using

I have not repaired a Land rover dash but have done plenty of Ford dashes.

Stripping the dash down to get the circuit board out is the worst bit as you need to get the needles back in the right place.
The Ford dashes are easy once youve done one , you turn the the needles back until the hit an internal stop inside the motor and mark the postion with masking tape before pulling the needles off. I would have thought Land rover ones would be the same.
Once you have the board out its a case of finding the cracked joint or soldering what you can, intoducing a bit of lead solder into the joint it will stop it going again.
The Ford dashes crack on the back of the wiring plug around the two can bus connections. I can strip, repair, rebuild and test a dash in about 30 mins as i have done so many.
Ford charge over 1k to replace and recode the dash and an ecu when it should have been a safety related recall.

There are a number of companies around that will repair your old dash. Totaltronics have been recommended before on this site. I personally would recomend Actronics in Colchester who have repaired components for me with a very fast turn around. I sent an ecu off on a tuesday they received it Wednesday morning repaired it and sent it back and it was reffited on Thursday morning.
