Hello,
My cousin is looking at a 2010 2.7 with a blown engine (crankshaft)...
does anyone have recommendations on where he can get it replaced?

If he has not bought it already my advice would be not to bother as they are very expensive to replace even if he bought it at a knocked down price - others will know more but tell him to do his homework first "UNDERSTEER" ---is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" -is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" ------------is how far you take the fence with you.

Yers, you can buy a whole complete running car for less than the cost of replacing the engine.
I have one for sale myself D3 07 SE - still going strong
D3 07 HSE - gone to car heaven
FL1 - gone to Romania
D3 05 HSE - gone to a divorce diet
D1 V8 manual - gone but not forgotten
RR Classic - gone to car heaven
Jeeps, Lexus, X-trails... Too many to name..

Then strip the D4 to offset the costs. Your cousin could be the first in The Strippers Club, D4 Branch.

Yes, the 2.7 in the earlier D4's were the same(ish) as the D3 engines. However, even sourcing a second hand engine and getting it fitted would cost an awful lot and indeed it would probably cost you more than getting a runner. As is often the case, labour would be the killer. If it were me, I'd pass on that car and go for a late D3, or early D4. If he goes for an early D4 and you get the 3.0 engine, it'll be totally worth it.

Sorry didn’t read it properly asking where he could get it replaced if it was mine I would change it myself over a few week ends as have changed loads of engines in the past but the cost of labour in a garage would prob be more than the engine
A 3.0 d4 is far better than my old 2.7 d3 I could never go back to a 2.7 or a d3 now not in a million years just d4s especially good low millage ones aren’t cheapDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

Yes - don't buy a car of that age with a blown engine.
Could you complete your profile please ? Whereabouts in Hampshire are you, and what are you driving; I rather think a 2012 SDV6 HSE IIRC?
