I think you'll find that the D3 G4 gross weight was around the 3 tonne mark due to all the extra kit. The standard D4 is around the 2584kg depending on spec.

Hope this helps?

Best,

Steve Thumbs Up

Oh, and I get around 26-29mpg with as much as an indicated 35mpg on the motorway but I suspect it's lying to me ! As DG said, it's a very heavy car with the aerodynamics of a brick. It's never going to be great on the fuel consumption but personally, there's nothing else I'd rather drive Smile

Just back from a round trip to Wales - mainly motorways (70 - 80 indicated mph), some urban and quite a bit of mountain/hill work totalling about 650 miles. Brim to Brim consumption 27.0 mpg which I was quite pleased with. Not pleased with low fuel warning light on all the way home & still on today Big Cry

Round trip of 480miles all destricted but including some 60 miles London driving on North Circular (lots of stop/starts) full tank to full tank with driver plus one passenger, stuck religiously to speed limits gave 29.6 mpg.

Well running the petrol V8 With LPG and having used road trip for the last few thousand miles mixed use towing horse boxes, country lanes and yesterday 430 miles of motorway work I am getting 32 mpg equivalent on a run and 28.6 around town so not to upset at all now I have read all of your oil burning numbers. And I don't have timing belts, turbos and all those other diesel headaches, love it. Smile

This weekends run using two full tanks gave me just over 30MPG at a "reasonable" motorway speed Whistle as said its nice to know what you are getting and keeping an eye on it may help you to pick up a brake starting to drag a little etc. but when you buy a disco your not buying for economy no matter how you try to justify it to SWMBO.

370 miles fairly mixed but including replacing wiring between fuel tank sensors so there might have been some spillage during tank removal? - brim-to-brim 27.55mpg. Fair enough IMO. OB indicator over-optimistic by about 10%.

I have found the trip computer on my D4 to be not that accurate.

I have never reset the A trip counter only the B trip and as such the average shown for my D4 over 26,603 miles on trip A is 25.4 mpg but this is not a true figure.

I say that as over that period I have used 1,177 gallons of fuel which equates to 22.6 mpg average.

Out of interest, I did the same with my previous D3 and in that I used 1,323 gallons of fuel over 29,685 miles which uncannily also gives 22.6 mpg.

I do not have the computer average for the D3.

I've got 2010 D4 with TDV6. I usually reset the fuel consumption meter when refueling and check the fuel amount against traveled mileage. The accuracy of the fuel consumption on trip computer is far off. During mixed driving it may suggest me having an average consumption of e.g. 8.2 l/100km (34 mpg) while in reality it was around 10 l/100km (28 mpg). That's about 20% off and is very optimistic.

I can't get to 8.x l/100km real figures even with highway driving, let alone mixed driving.

Just done another 350 or so miles brim-to-brim and again 27mpg with 31 on the OBC display. ISTR reading somewhere that the OBC can be adjusted electronically to give a more accurate reading.

Just a thought ..... how accurate are the pumps delivering fuel - are they not only accurate to within 5%. I did read somewhere that is you fill your fuel tank slowly - it is more accurate. I think the
weights and measures do not measure at full tilt fueling - but fill a calibrated vessels which necessitate
lower filling speeds. ....... Just a thought ... we might be selling our Disco's short. The only way to tell
would be to fill the tank from an accurate reservoir.....

Fuel pumps are pretty accurate and regularly checked.

I would agree with the above keeping to speed limits to glasgow over 400 miles i get 29mpg but dash says 36. On average I get 24 mpg and i live in a rural area. And that assumes the speedo is even remotely accurate according to the sat nav that is 10% over as well. over a measured distance it would not surprise me if mine averages 20 mpg. Or twice what my vito uses.

Thankfully measured distance as recorded by the odometer is accurate. It is a separate calculation to the speed and not linked as it would be in an old-fashioned mechanical arrangement.
