VOLUNTARY SAFETY RELATED RECALL - - Adhesion Of Various Bonded Glass Panels

Dear

Jaguar Land Rover Limited would like to advise you that during ongoing quality assessment of our product it has been identified that a possible safety related problem may occur on certain Land Rover specific vehicles. Please read the information below, this will explain the actions that we intend to take and what you will need to do;

Reason for this programme

A concern has been identified with a small number of glazing panels fitted to the vehicles identified above.

The affected vehicles were subjected to post build, Jaguar Land Rover conducted, repairs and reworks. The reworks where bonded glass was removed and refitted may have used an incorrect combination of adhesive preparation chemicals and glass adhesive.

Internal reports of water leaks after rework revealed that the adhesive bead readily detached from the glass, a clear indication that the chemical bond to the glass had not been achieved. Glass panels that have no chemical bond to the adhesive could detach from the vehicle whilst the vehicle is in motion.

Where a glass panel detaches from the vehicle, it may collide with other vehicles on the road or compel other road users to take evasive action. This could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

What Jaguar Land Rover Limited and your Land Rover authorised repairer will do

At your visit, your preferred Land Rover authorised repairer will remove the affected glazing panels and re-assemble using the correct specification bonding agents.

How long will it take?

The work on your vehicle will be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to minimise inconvenience, the repair times will vary depending on the model and number of repairs required, please contact your Authorised Repairer for more details.

What we are asking you to do

Please contact your preferred Land Rover authorised repairer without delay. To book your vehicle in for this action you will need to provide the authorised repairer with the following which are detailed at the beginning of this letter.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your vehicle.
Vehicle registration number of your vehicle.
The programme code for the action.
If you do not have an authorised repairer, please access www.landrover.co.uk or www.landrover.com for contact details.

If you no longer own the vehicle we would be grateful if you will complete the 'Change of Ownership' slip attached to this letter, returning the slip to Jaguar Land Rover Limited immediately in the enclosed ‘Freepost’ envelope. This will enable us to make contact with the new owner.

If you have concerns

If you experience any concerns relating to this Voluntary Recall, please contact the Service Manager at your authorised repairer for assistance or contact the Jaguar Land Rover Limited Customer Relationship Centre on 0370 5000 500 or (enter telephone number).

This Recall Action is being undertaken in accordance with the legislative or industry requirements concerning vehicle defects. The authorities will closely monitor the response rate of this Recall Action.

Please treat this matter with the urgency it requires. Jaguar Land Rover Limited apologises for any inconvenience this Voluntary Recall may cause and thank you, in advance, for your co-operation.

received this email from the dealership.
Apparently, the front bumper has to be removed to stop washer jets falling inside!
They need the car for two days.

quote - (including the poor grammar)....

Your would not of received any information in the post regarding these recalls as they are not safety item. The outstanding recalls are;
1) Front bumper headlamp washer jets
2) Windshield finisher coming loose
3) Tow eye cover.

A lot of these are cosmetic items that Land Rover has decided they could improve on. We have availability to carry out these Recalls from Wednesday 27th April onwards.

they are all listed in the "sticky" part of this section

http://www.disco4.com/forum/general-d4-vf49.html

..they are not recalls as such but some cars may be affected by one or more ...the vin ranges are fairly small tbh
