2015 D4 condensation in headlights

Noticed on collection that my newly acquired D4 HSE with Xenons etc, has condensation in the lower section of both headlights, pointed this out to the salesman who logged this and said "let us know if it gets worse" but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue... ?

These are sealed units as far as I know.

Cheers

Try taking the back caps off then putting them on a radiator for a while. Confused

I did think about that but would need to do that each time it rained... and it seems to do that rather a lot Laughing

Not noticed it on mine but it is mentioned in the owners handbook as a"natural phenomenon which will clear with regular use of the headlights and can be affected by certain weather conditions. The lights are not sealed as they have removable covers to allow access for changing the headlight bulbs. The info from the handbook below.

HEADLIGHT CONDENSATION

Condensation in the headlights, direction indicators, or rear lights is a natural phenomenon.

Condensation can occur under certain atmospheric conditions or after washing the vehicle. The performance and life expectancy of the lights is not affected.

Condensation should partially or completely clear, with regular use of the lights, within 48 hours of dry atmospheric conditions.

LED lights distribute less heat towards the outer lens than halogen or xenon lights. In extreme conditions, LED lights may take longer to clear, but this is not detrimental to the performance of the light.

You might get lucky and banish all that pesky moisture once and for all. Whistle Whistle

Ta... it's been there since I got the car two weeks ago so was hoping it would have gone by now but I guess it's only been the DRLs that have been on...

I might do as Del suggests and remove the lights and leave them near the radiators overnight and see if that helps...

Thumbs Up

If you're not using the car, just take the caps off, or, if using it, put the main beam on whenever you can, 10-20 minutes will heat the glass up enough (providing it's not mega minus temperatures).

Mine do it, but I just leave it, when the sun comes out if the car is facing it, it soon clears.
