2015 Headlight Install
Hi, new member here and would love some advice on headlight conversion. I have an early D4 (2009) GS model which does not have the upgrade working LED's. I intend to use the car at my house in Spain and therefore am looking at installing the latest 2014/15 Headlights EU Spec. Any idea what I would need to instal theses? I know there's a new grill to be fitted but what about the wiring? Will the DRL function need to be activated by dealer etc.? any advice is welcomed.

I think you also need a new front bumper as the lights aren't the same shape. If your current D4 doesn't have xenon lights then they will also need enabling via diagnostics, that's as a minimum. I think that there might also be extra wiring involved to get the full DRL functionality, have a further search on here to find out.

I'm currently doing the conversion to mine. You need the new valeo headlights, grill, and bumper. There are no wiring issues the plugs and mounting is the same.

Thanks for the advice. They lights I have are adaptive, the car does not have the module to drive these but I have read that this is not necessary for the lights to work. What I have at the minute is working DRL (side light activated) and working indicators. I don't have working head lights or full beam. Is this down to software activation?

Assuming that your original lights were not xenon (presume not on a GS) then yes, your issue is that they are not activated. On a D4 retrofitted xenons do not work at all unless they are activated (unlike on a D3 where they will work if not activated but flicker on startup).

Thanks Discoteca, appreciate your advice and quick reply. Will get this activated and hopefully I'll be able to drive in the dark!! You are right, the original lights were halogen, due to a move to Spain, I took the opportunity to upgrade to LHD Xenon units.
The IID is a tool sold by GAP Diagnostics, the car will not be pre wired and retro fit is very involved to power the AFS ECU and feed the lights , you'll have to make up looms etcAltox GSM FBH controller thread

@trip, you need to do some wiring to get the DRLs to function other that with sidelights
Do you have any info on the wiring mod for DRL's to function. I've been told you need an ignition live to pin 8 of the headlight. Also will the main beam flash be plug and play if your swapping from early xenons to late xenons.
