20A Front Fog Lights Fuse - Keeps on blowing, but why? |
|
Hi All;
This is the second time that I tried to use my front fog lights and the 20A fuse blows. It happens 2 to 5 minutes after switching the fog lights on.
I have checked the lights, sockets - no shortcuts or visible problems, have you got any ideas of what could be, pls?
thanks

This sounds like the "common fault" where the Fog lamp loom needs re-routing behind the bumper to stop it from rubbing on metal and eventually shorting - dealer should replace loom and re-route under warranty. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

do you need to borrow a fuse? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

There you go, no need for Les Mis.... LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

My front fog lights don't work.. will check that right away!!! But if this is a known issue is there no TSB on it?
And if so.. will it cover my car out of warranty?

Just blew up another 15A fuse.. it is shorting! Is it a simple thing to do or better to take it to the stealer?
The warranty in my car is long gone..

Thats all the dealer does, and put a bit of plastic conduit around the loom.

Well, today i disassembled the fog light and what do you know.. there it was the worn wire, with a matching dent caused by the electrical discharge, just taped it up real well... and voilá! it works!!!
Also tried to replace the standard high beam with a Philips Blue Vision H7, but those nasty screws and lack of time didn't allow me to do it, maybe next saturday..
