Don't be too harsh on the Logic7, once you set it up, its bloody fantastic (FOR A CAR)

I think I need to sit down with the manual as it just seems flat and overly compressed from original source CDs. Probably some settings I haven't found yet. The treble in particular is very harsh, either scratchy and muddled at higher settings or too flat. Linn/Naim? Nice! Although I was knocking out GNR this morning, my tastes are rather more eclectic than that and last night I was listening to some accoustic Paul Weller and some Lalo Schifrin and I just couldn't get an unmuddied sound.

Funnily enough I do, but would need it delivered by next Saturday as I will be needing it the following week. Will add a suitable comment to the thread.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

No, the cones are fine. The amp appears to have anti-clipping on it (part of why I took it up to 35 in increments was to see what happened and pull back if there were signs of trouble, allowing me to get a view on the lack of clarity) and the speakers are perfectly ok. Trouble is, the anti-clipping seems to start cutting the extreme frequency spikes fairly low down the volume range, which may account for the compressed sound once much above 20 or so.

I'll have a proper play at the weekend to see what I can do to optimise the settings. Currently have -1 Fader, 0 Balance, +2 Bass, 0 Treble, +4 Subwoofer and it all seems pretty good, if a little flat, up to 18 or so but there is a marked drop in clarity past 20. I suspect if I shift the Fader to the front speakers (where the tweeters are) and use the Balance to even things up instead of leaving the Balance central and adjusting centre stage with the Fader I'll get better clarity, although the imaging my suffer a bit.

Gulp...... Just read that back and have realised I need a new anorak....... Rolling Eyes

the logic 7 can be switched on or off, while not for true audiophiles, it does give an open and clear (if artificial) sound
