In more standard 255/60 R18 specs I found General AT2 ... What do you think of them?
Thanks a lot,
Frederic

Hi Fred
The BF seems to be the reference for all 4x4 people. I've found some interesting thread in forum dedicated to land rovers. Even in this one, beacuse I see that someone is wearing AT2 recently.
Nevertheless, AT2 seems to be a few under the BF goodrich (specially in the heavy mud) except on road where it seems to be more silencious.
Now, it depends of the use you wanna do with it. As I use to drive on sand, trails, light mud, the description seems to fit my requirements.
And Im' very happy to know that they are available now, because I've to change my GY HP AW (Good tire anyway).
The load index is fine, but the speed rating is way down. Not sure if that is a problem in your country? I have the Grabber AT2s and I'm very impressed with them both on road and off.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
R speed rating is fine unless you drive over 106MphThe End

Thanks OursBlanc,
I'll have to deal with deep mud, but at the same time I don't want to loose onroad comfort too much...
Yeah I know: that's the "the quadrature of the circle"...

Thanks NoDo$h and Slimer
On some rare occasions I must admit I drove over 106 Mph (170Km/h) , but If I have to choose, I'd rather get true all terrain tyres... (and keep my licence)
but does the BF actually FIT a D3 (18" rims)?
thanks
fred

In Belgium they're NOT legal for the speed index is too low.
Go for the General Grabber AT2's, they exist in the correct 18inch size AND are available

Thanks dldisco3, I just didn't know that there were legal - and illegal - speed indexes !
Do you reckon a General Grabber AT2 255/55R18 is mandatory for a Disco3, or a 255/60 R18 would also fit ? (as if I am not wrong, a 60 size would offer better shock absorbing properties?)

the 255/55 AT2 isn't load rated for the D3.
It's the new 255/60 AT2 that is properly rated for the D3 and has the proper rolling radius too. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

Hi guys
I'm sorry to say that, but it seems that the speed index of the Grabber AT2 is now H and not T as said previously in this thread.
In my D3 book, it's aid that the speed index should be at least H. ACtually, I've some GY AW, and the speed index is V, with a UTQG, 430 A A. The wear is correct. I will probably change my tires before end of june after 45 000 km or more...

H is fine - 130MPH, more than the D3 can go anyway IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!
I have them on my car and they fit fine. No problem with the rim, or the car. The only small thing is on the front of the rear wheel wells there is a smal "hump" in the plastic that rubs under full stuff, and deep cornering. It eventually clearances itself. BFG has always been @ the top of my tire scale. NO surprises. Tops Off, and On road.
