Has anybody had a 2nd battery fitted to their D3?
I wamt to use it to power additional equipment like DVD's and an extra fridge etc when the engine is not running.
Can anybody give me an idea of where would be best to go for this and roughly how much it would cost.
I live in South Yorkshire and wouldn't fancy travelling for much longer than an hour for this

Any decent vehicle electrician should be able to do this work...
couple of 'gotcha's' to look out for though:-
Don't use the traditional IND alternator output for switching the charge relay, it doesn't work like that on a D3, safer to use an IGN +ve ( I can find out a suitable fuse ref. if you want)
The max alternator voltage can go up to 15.6V due to the lead-calcium battery used on the D3, if you use a traditional type of battery, this will shorten its life and may cause the charging system to be less efficient at recharging the standard D3 battery
Access through the bulkhead is very minimal, some sections are also twin - wall, consider where you want the cables routed to and the best non - invasive route.... possibly underneath? if you have an auto, there should be a grommet fitted where the clutch hydraulics pass through the bulkhead which is ideal although a bit restricted on the manual.

Let me know what you come up with, I've ordered mounting hardware to secure the battery in the box on the driver's side. It's got all the mounting stuff like the passenger side. Just have to get the electric stuff sorted out...
