3.2 Ford Engine as a conversion?

I was flicking the interweb thingy and noticed folks offering 3.2 Ford conversion into a defender.

So my small brain had a flash to its self and said....

With all these disco3-4s with terminal crank issues could this be a possible conversion, you can get standalone ecu for engine with a loom..

Ok costs could be as silly as a replacment from Landrover

Anyone looked at this

Im sure getting the engine to run would be mechanically simple yet money heavy, getting it to talk to the rest of the car will be the really clever bit.

Give it a decade or so and people will have worked it out, they always do.

Look at what DM is having to do to fit a 3.6v8 into his disco.

Having looked at a 3.2 conversion in a Defender...

The 3.2 is essentially the same as the 2.4/2.2, but with 2 extra cylinders
Bell housing pattern is the same
Engine mounts are the same
Engine harness is the same

Stumbling block is the 3.2 ECU and immobiliser...

Not a difficult job to physically fit, just the wiring that's the issue, in a Defender

Now, the same engine in a Discovery is very long in comparison.
Bell housing is completely different
Engine mounts are completely different
Wiring and CAN networks are completely different

Anything is possible with enough time and money, but I see this as a no-go...
