Im sure getting the engine to run would be mechanically simple yet money heavy, getting it to talk to the rest of the car will be the really clever bit.
Give it a decade or so and people will have worked it out, they always do.
Look at what DM is having to do to fit a 3.6v8 into his disco.

3.6 v8 out of the rr sport and ffrr
DM = Dico Mikey who knows more than the rest of us put together, hes also comes across as a thoroughly nice person who doesnt think hes billy big boots.
Im no good at searching but he did have a thread on the conversion which was basically his disco and a scrapper rrs for the engien and loom etc, mahoosive job.

Having looked at a 3.2 conversion in a Defender...
The 3.2 is essentially the same as the 2.4/2.2, but with 2 extra cylinders
Bell housing pattern is the same
Engine mounts are the same
Engine harness is the same
Stumbling block is the 3.2 ECU and immobiliser...
Not a difficult job to physically fit, just the wiring that's the issue, in a Defender
Now, the same engine in a Discovery is very long in comparison.
Bell housing is completely different
Engine mounts are completely different
Wiring and CAN networks are completely different
Anything is possible with enough time and money, but I see this as a no-go...My D3 Build Thread
