4.4 V8 Cam/timingbelt service |
|
Hello All,
this is my 1st post as a new member & owner of an '05 LR3 here in Canada, & I'd like to say what a great site!
My LR3 is coming due for the Cambelt service at 120k(km). I'm a bit of a home mechanic & have done various VW & an A8 4.2 t-belt/H20 pump service before, so I'm going to attempt doing the work myself. Anyone have tips, links or things to look out for when attempting this. If all goes well I will try to post a some pics of the process.

A friendly local specialist has just done my alternator / fan belt so if you want few tips on that I'll do some digging.
Not many seem to have the V8 though so you may find it a little slower than normal getting the information you need.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd never thought of GTR, I'll certainly do a 1 day subscription & get all the info I can. I'm orderering the kit from my 'nearest' LR dealer(Coventry Lane, Pickering ON) this week. Will post results. Other toys: Suzuki SV650S (gone)

If you can take pics along the way as you're removing bits, that would be REALLY useful.
Not that there's many of us that woiuld do somethign like this, but always useful to know how the bits are removed (with photo's) in case there's something else that we need to get to Bodsys Brake Bible

Spoke to Parts at Coventry Lane yesterday am. Later that day - long story short - Freelander has t-belt, LR3 has chain - no touchy!
Must recheck my sources. I'm finding info. on V8's in general is pretty sketchy. It would be nice if Bentley's got around to publishing a manual for the D3/LR3.
Good news is, basically 120km service is regular service & diff. box oil change. They can do that one.
Still learning about these beasts. I've only had mine 2 weeks & it's amazing.
