New Zealand 2006 Discovery 3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

Just got back from a camping / hunting trip over New Years with my Disco 3 V8.
Over 4 days we drove over 500ks including some open road 100kph and some low range river crossing / bush bashing.
Disco was loaded with 4 people, 2 dogs and cargo compartment full to the roof with gear. Plus roof rack loaded and RAI fitted.
Disco returned 13.6 L / per 100k which is 20.77mpg.
That's running on 98 octane super unleaded.

That’s really not too bad at all! How much is 98 octane there?

It really varies from station to station. As a rough guide 91 (standard) is about $2.07 NZD a L.
95 is really common at about 8 to 10 c more and 98 is only available from a couple of suppliers at 10 to 12 c more a L.
The 98 we got for this trip was at an un manned fuel stop and really good value. It was $2.11 from memory.
$2.11 NZD is 1.07 GB pounds.

Diesel here is cheaper at the pump - about $1.50 ish but you also have to pay a road users tax on diesel vehicles - $72 per 1000K plus the rego (road tax) is higher for derv powered cars too. $175 per year compared to $105 for petrol.

Thanks Thumbs Up

That makes for an interesting comparison. I wonder what their justification for the additional diesel tax is?
