6 speed gearbox flush from Geoff
Chaps
Ive read a few posts recently asking id a gearbox flush is worth doing.. well I had mine done yesterday by Geoff and Im stunned at the difference. He also reset the adaptive system at the same time and the difference is staggering, let me try to explain.
The car has done 79k, and recently I've been towing with it, I've felt surges, shudders and noticed the gear changes have been getting clunkier, I've also noticed a humm from the transmission and it didn't kick down as often id like causing me to have to revert to command shift..
Now the car drives smoother, much smoother, the gear changes are seamless and where as before I felt surges in power that were mismatched with revs almost as if there were a satellite delay in the transmission (if you've experienced this you'll know exactly what I mean ) it is now restored to instant response. its quieter with no humm from the transmission and I'm hardly noticing gear changes and I've also noticed the box is changing down quicker so no more being bogged down in the wrong gear for a few seconds exiting corners on twisty roads.
In all I think its the best £285 quid I'm going to spend on my D4 and its back to the serene gliding pleasure to drive vehicle it was when I got it!
I can recommend both the flush and if you're in Kent Geoff as the bloke to do it!www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

Still rather worrying that people are waiting until they have an issue to have a gearbox flush done, instead of having it done early, and preventing the issues in the first place My D3 Build Thread

In fairness Mikey I've not had the disco long and it was an " approved used " not that makes a blind bit of difference to the box BUT it has a warranty so i wasn't too fussed..www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

My 2010 D4 has done just over 41k miles and was thinking about getting it done soon.
Is there a rule of thumb regarding mileage when it would be of benefit? (i.e. Shall I wait till 50k or will I benefit from one now?)

Its as much the age as milage as oils break down through contamination, my D4 is a MY 10 and gets used fairly well both on and off road..www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

are these symptoms being reported with lower mileage 8 speed owners as well
as mine doing as described and im told by a reliable indy that it might need a "dynamic reset"
as cars only done 20K i wouldnt think it needs a flush already would it ??
if any thing i would say mines a bit down change happy but its nowhere near as smooth as i think it should beMY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

Official Recommendation is as low as 30k miles
You can never change it too early, or too often
If you notice a difference in the way the gearbox operates after a flush/oil change, then you have left it too late already. Adaptive Reset excluded My D3 Build Thread

Drove a 60k, 8 speed last week, and the gearbox was atrocious
That said, the 8 speed does seem very sensitive to its software, make sure its had its latest updates
