Rear wheel bearing replacement

Hi all
After a superb weekend at seven sister's in Wales one of my rear wheel bearings gave up on me (thankfully as I was pulling into a service station)
I've done a bit of reading but am a little unsure on one thing.

Can I get a rear hub with bearing already pushed in and just swap old for new (don't have a bearing press) or if I want to DIY it will I need to acquire one?
Thanks in advance!

There has been a thread on here about ready made rear hubs with bearings. But if I recall, there is not one available.

I have done rear wheel bearings, and it is quite involved, and yes you will need a press or access to one.

You will have to press out the old bearing, and probably will have to cut the inner race off of the hub.

Pressing in the new one takes some care to not 'brinell' the new bearing.

It is DIY possible, but with some experience required! Thumbs Up

I bought these rear wheel bearings a few years ago.
Does anyone know of the brand?

Anyone used them?

That's just the generic motor factor packaging, you'd have to look at the actual bearing to see the manufacturer. Could be one of many. Some better than others! Thumbs Up

NTN

Niwa, Tomoe, Nishizono !

Yep, they are ok! Top bearing manufacturer, OE to Honda, equal to Timken.

Thanks chaps,

Annoyingly the garage its booked in to have to work done wont do it unless they supply the part or its a genuine LR part.
I will ask them if they are willing to accept this brand....not holding my breath though.

Fronts are a walk in the park, it's all just bolt work for those ones

Hub nuts can be a real pain to get off on the fronts though - can you borrow an impact wrench? If not a scaffold pole on a breaker bar might be needed
