Add Front Parking Sensor

Is it possible to add front parking sensors to a D3 that doesn't have them? Will the wiring/plugs be there already?

easiest way to find out... remove drivers side headlight unit, look area below where the light was and bumper - and if you have two plugs not connected to anything then yes.. as that what I did - I also added front Fog lights at the same time Smile

Cool, thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at that tomorrow in the light. What did you need to buy for this job? I see you can buy the inner and outer sensors but do I also need to buy the bezels? I have seen that the bezel holds the sensor but wasn't sure if my existing bumper's 'blanks' are actually the same bezel but just holding a blank where the sensor would go. Don't know if that makes sense.

Also will I need any other cables/looms for this? Where does the avaiable (if I have one) plug connect to?

Thanks

You will need a bumper loom this will plug in to the available plug behind the headlight you will also need a parking module that takes 3 plugs and not 2 this can be found behind the passenger side trim panel in the luggage compartment. you also might have to enable them on the vehicle CCF. If the bezels are genuine then the sensors should fit.

If I have the available plug do I still need the different module in the back? Would the extra plug under the headlight not suggest this is already connected to the module? Or are you saying the other end of this extra plug cable goes to the back module but isn't connected there?

If its anything like the D4 then no you don't need an extra module at the back as the front parking sensor beeps come through the front centre speaker.

When I added this to my D4 I needed the Parking Sensor / Fog Loom (and sensors of course) that plugged into a blanked connector by the offside headlight. After enabling on CCF all worked as it should.

Oh also needed to install the parking isolation button too which is around the AC controls on the D4 Thumbs Up

Search is your friend - its been done and documented on the forum a few times and might even be in the WiKi

edit: here is a starter for 10 http://disco4.com/forum/d4-front-bumper-fa...nt+parking

Thanks!

Don't know what I searched for now that allowed me to miss that thread Shocked

What is this "parking isolation button" you speak of and what does it do? Don't see that mentioned in the thread.

Thanks

Mines a base model and this is my parking module

I’ve only got rear bumper sensors fitted but have seen the other connector behind the drivers side headlight

Also see there’s different part numbers according to vin number, don’t know what the difference is I’m afraid , wonder if it’s been superseeded with later part numbers ??

maybe the more experienced members will know

Hope that may help abit Thumbs Up

Ahh, thanks guys. Can't say I've ever noticed that button Laughing Makes sense though that you might on occasion (off road?) want to disable the sensors. I assume if I already have this button then I don't need to do anything with this as I guess it is already connected to the parking module.

It's quite different on the D4

One of those beige plugs goes to the front.

Different part numbers are to do with a different way the front ones are enabled and disabled during driving. Personally I prefer the early ones! (as the fronts automatically activate below 10MPH, but the odd cyclist or bus can briefly trigger them while stationary
