adding points of interest to the DVD navigation system |
|
I don't have my D3 yet, but I was wondering if it's possible to add points of interest to the DVD navigation system.
If it is where are they stored?
Is it possible to burn a modified DVD with speed camera locations on, similar in a way that the Tom Tom system works?

It would be possible, but you'd need to successfully decode the KIWI map data format, and then insert new data in
It's been done with the BMW Sat Nav, but that's a relatively 'standard' HTML and XML file format

Just looked at the Kiwi site for some back ground info. To attempt any modified programming of this data is obviously not for the faint hearted
I will continue to search however as there seems to be a lot of interest from other parties with regards to this. You never know

Yep, I think you are right, there would be a lot odf interest, when I asked about this, I was told the only alternative was to stop at the location of the camera & put it in as a POI - not exactly a safe idea on most roads !!!!!! 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
