Advice please, driving without coolant expansion tank cap?

I'm currently in the French alps. My LR3 TDV6 2007 is leaking coolant from the plastic water outlet housing. It is not a big leak, i have refilled 5 liters of coolant during 1000km's. Is it possible to drive without the coolant expansion cap? I was planning to do this to avoid any pressure on the plastic manifold.

I can’t see why not but Someone else may say different I guess you will have to be careful of the coolant evaporating
Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

The problem will be if you drive hard enough to boil the coolant. The idea of the pressurised system is that it will go well above 100 degrees, without boiling the water.

The TDV6 is a cool running efficient engine, so unless your hammering along at high speed, or climbing hills on a hot day, it will probably not get to 100 degrees.

If you have an iid tool, you could monitor the live value for coolant temp, and also would recommend keeping an eye on oil temp too.
