Have they got any faults I should be aware of ?
I know so far ;
Air suspension
Hand brake
Ball joint anything else to watch for when buying ??

Look for good service history.
Oil pumps can fail, theres an uprated version that can be fitted when the cambelt is changed.
Handbrakes can play up if not looked after
Air suspension can fail but with good diagnosis it can be repaired easily
Egr valves can get block and threres two of them (bypass kits are £15)
Sill can rot out under the sill covers
Suspension bushes can fail but no more than any other car
Lots of other things can go wrong but if you get A gap diagnostics unit it can usually be identified and repaired.

Hi, I too have some questions, mostly surrounding whether or not I have researched this thoroughly.
I'm looking at a 90,000 mile 2006 XS automatic for use mainly as a weekend car and occasional trips to the Highlands, and southwards to the Alps for winter ski trips. It won't get used in the week and it will never be used for towing.
The one I'm looking at looks to be in superb condition with quite a lot of history. In the past six months it's had:
- EGR valve
- Front and rear brake discs and pads
- Front wheel bearings
- Timing belts
- Battery and tyres
- Air suspension compressor
No tow bar fitted and looks like it has been well looked after. I drove it and found no evidence of gearbox judder, diff whine, the parking brake operates and doesn't make any noises, it pulls strongly and smoothly and brakes in the same manner. I didn't find any evidence of gearbox and diff oil changes but I will do that myself immediately anyway. It has a slight clang from the front offside when steering slowly but I think that is either an anti-roll bar bush or a drop link.
Is there anything else I should be looking for? Any potential horrors? I am not concerned with it being a low spec as (presumably?) I can easily retrofit a leather interior and upgrade it here and there as I see fit.
I can generally DIY fix my own cars within reason so I would be interested to know about maintenance pitfalls that I have not considered. Fuel economy doesn't really concern me as it'll do less than 10,000 miles a year.
I guess what I am saying is this – convince me not to buy it!

I should add, I would like to do a mild suspension lift (2" at most) and fit it with slightly larger tyres for some moderate off-roading on the weekends. Unsure if that matters to you guys but again if I have not considered something otherwise obvious I would love to know.

Has it got steps fitted? As they xan cause the sills to rust on one of that age.
You also need to find out if the oil pump was replaced with he uprated one when the belt was replaced.
