aftermarket or retrofitted rear locking dif?

People Hi from Greece,

I have been asked by a friend if it is possible to retrofit the rear locking diff on an LR3 which was sold without one (rear locking diff)

If not does anyone know of an aftermarket unit?

Unfortunately not, LR one is Factory Fit only and there isn't an aftermarket one available yet that we know of

The LR one is factory install only.. and I think there are no 3P ones available yet.

Sure that 3P manufacturers are working on this but no news yet.

To be honest... with the standard diff set the D3 is remarkable off road so you may not need a rear diff fitted at all.

Simon and Slimer thanks for the swift reply.

That was fast indeed.

BTW I do not own an LR3 but had the priviledge to be given a pair of them to test up to abuse levels.

All I can say is that I was impressed with the road manners of both the TDV6 and the V8.
I was expecting a product from this factory to be excellent off the road but its manners on tarmac were beyond my belief.

And if I were to buy one it would DEFINATELY be the TD V6. Especially after knowing about the chipping performance increase I guess chosing the diesel engine vehicle is almost a no brainer.

Back to the initial topic I will start investigating the possibility of retrofitting the rear locking diff. Wiring must be there so it may be just a matter of replacing and connecting the necessary bit and reprograming the electronics.
Same as the possibility to retrofit cruise control of Discovery S2 TD5 vehicles. Just a matter of plugging it the switch.
