Air con like the mrs (hot and cold)

Hi all
Can someone point me in the direction of an air con specialist in the north east that knows about discovery systems
Had mine re-gassed two months ago after it was starting of ice cold then blowing warm but if I turned it off for say ten mins when driving then back on it's ice cold again for a random amount of time etc etc

It has the rear air con unit that has never blow cold since I bought it but as the dealer I got it of was down in droitwitch and didn't seam to give a f**k about any of the issues I rang him about I just figured that I could cool the car with just the front

I've read a few threads on here about the same symptoms but don't want to head to an air con place that doesn't really know about the disco system and don't want to have my pants whapped down

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply

I've read the thread your referring to but the relay was for the in car fan (I think) but this doesn't seam to be affected I'm now thinking I've got a leak or the condenser is packing up
So was trying to find a specialist in my area that someone on here has used before
I'm sure that the majority of air con companies wil know there discos from there pandas but after buying the car from a guy who turned out to be a lying bas***d I now only use people who come recommended

I think there was another thread where DiscoMikey replied and reckoned it was the compressor as he had changed a few recently.

When was your cabin filter last changed?
If the filter is dirty it would cause the symptoms you describe by restricting the amount of air flowing through the evaporator.

I had the same recently from a Halfords recharge (by gauge) rather than a drain and refill to the correct quantity recharge, fault code was air con pressure to high, it would blow cold but then shut the air con down and blow warm, also the viscous fan was on a lot more than normal. This was on a D4 though.

Hope you get it sorted. Thumbs Up

^^^^^^^^^ +1 Thumbs Up

Granted this was on a 1997 FL1, a mate of mine re-gassed it using gauges. It kept tripping out on the high pressure side and disengaging the compressor. I believe that the D3's compressor doesn't engage/disengage (old style clutch system) but runs all the time and has some clever internals that vary how "busy" it is.

I had the cabin filter changed roughly 3 weeks ago with my annual service

But I have noticed the engine fan has been coming on more than normal every now and then but just bought that could be the weather

Also noted yesterday if I get in and hit the auto button so it just blasts out ice cold air on full tilt and don't turn it down it stays cold but as soon as I turn the fan speed down it looses the cold factor and starts blowing warm
