Air conditioning temperature consistency

When using the air con (25,26, haven't used other settings) when I first start the car it'd feel quite cool, and after a while driving (traffic or not) the air con becomes quite hot that I have to turn down the temperature to get it cold again, but then it'd get a bit too cold and I have to turn it back to 25~26 again. This cycle kind of repeats. Is this some kind of fuel saving design of switching the air con on and off?

I have the same problem in mine and at the last service this week was assured it is normal, yet I have a 2008 VW Golf with climate control and the temperature is consistent and seems seamless in operation. The D4 seems very crude by comparison for a luxury car. The alogarithms need refining somewhat; I am sure someone's teenager could sort it out!!!!

Mine is the same and so were my D2s I think there is something wrong with the way they measure the temp in the cabin.

I find I have to set the so called climate control to extremes just to get it to switch to aircon or heating.

It's almost like it needs a reset button?

Thanks for the input, one less thing to be concerned about then. Speaking of which, does anybody know where the interior temp sensor are located?

I think that the problem is in turning the temp up high (25 26 in the post above) before the engine/FBH has heated the water in the system.
I set mine on automatic at about 21 to 22 degrees and it works perfecly that way on my LR3 (gone) RR Sport and BMW X5 without any issues. Setting to a high temp when the system is cold does nothing to heat the car but causes overshoot as the system heats up.
My experience anyway. Very Happy

I find it consistant provided that there is a 3 degree diff between external temp and setting.

guess the delta T is quite large
It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
