Air Suspension Amber Warning light |
|
I’m looking for some guidance and help from anybody who has had a similar problem and has rectified the fault.
My vehicle is a Discovery 3 HSE 2008 140K miles
It could be unrelated but the vehicle problem started after I had forged a number of flooded roads while in the Lake District but a week later I had the amber warning light showing a fault on the air suspension.
At every restart the system check would clear the fault for a short distance then the warning light would come on again.
A check on this forum seemed to point to the air lift pump (compressor) I obtained an overhaul kit and fitted, the same fault was present after refitting and road testing. I then read that the rubber exhaust valve could cause a problem so the compressor was removed again and a new exhaust valve spring and cap were fitted the old valve showed signs of wear and was pitted.
Again on returning the vehicle into service the fault is still there the fault clears on start-up and the vehicle can be driven 2-3 miles or until the speedo shows around fifty miles per hour then the amber warning lights shows and the message normal height only
I have considered purchasing a fault code reader that will download air suspension faults but the only one that seems readily available is over £300 pounds and I’m not sure it will tell me exactly what is wrong.
Has anybody had a similar fault which they repaired, and how?

You need to get the codes read. The codes given can be a little cryptic but if your car is on it's original compressor there's a good chance it's time for a new one.
Many posters have tried to refurb their compressors with new seals and various bits and pieces and most don't have much success.
Read the codes and go from there, otherwise it's all guesswork.
Put out a shout for somebody within your area who can read the codes for you. Mods:

Thanks for your reply, and if anyone can read steer me in the right direction to get my codes read in the Lockerbie area then please feel free shout up.
I’m more than happy to put a new compressor on the vehicle providing there’s a 99% chance of resolving the problem, but I have read so many horror stories of the fault still showing after a compressor has been fitted.

Could I suggest you start another thread with your location etc. all detailed and what type of help you'd like?
Your current shout for help is lost within a thread about suspension issues and may not be read by somebody who could help.
Good luck with it. Mods:

There's little point repeating yourself, I read your post the first time around.
For fear of repeating myself, start another thread requesting help because your current request is lost within this thread which may not be read by somebody who could possibly help.
Put it in the General section and call it something like "Help Reading Codes-South Scotland" and possibly link back to this thread to detail your problem. Mods:

Sorry the repeat message was my fault, I didn't think it had posted first time so did it again. I have started a new thread which has had a positive reply so thanks again for your help. Although I use the forum to search for items and obtained many useful pieces of information I don't submit posts so today is a new learning experience for me, and at my age it takes a little while.

Do you have the 4x4 info screen on your car? What wheel heights are showing...? New gearbox & TC, 3 x front wheel bearings, belts changed, new oil pump, new battery, new rear prop, new front prop, new front diff, front arb refurbed, front cv boot kit, egr blank and BAS software patch, full rear suspension / drivelive rebuild, new front arms, LED trailer light fix, split charge.
Never had a 107, 90 or 127, but have had most of the rest!
