Mine was as you described - intermittent and then permanent, however it is better to get the codes read so that you can tell which airbag is causing the light to come on before replacing parts on the off-chance. Can save time, money and frustration.Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!

Does everything work ok on ur steering wheel , ie horn, cruise control , radio buttons as I think if the rotary spring fails it can also cause some of these to fail
But of course not 100% and stand corrected
Have u also checked both of ur front seat pretensioner wires arnt being pulled tight and both black connectors with the 7mm bolt are nice and tight
Don’t forget , don’t pull these connectors apart with the battery still connected , best to disconnect the battery , wait for 30 x mins then take them apart , is the same ref battery if u want to remove the steering wheel airbag , need the hook tool as well for that airbag removal
Apologises if u knew that already
Ps, wonder if someone is near u with a code reader,
I have a disco4 steering wheel, and yep things are working normally on it. Always have.
I had a look at what wires get tight if you move the seat back and forwards to the extremes but didn’t really see anything that got tight, the wires all seemed to move with the seat. Is the pretensioner wire visible in my photo that i have taken? If so which one?
The 7mm block connectors were both nice and tight, and I’ve taken them off and given them a blow with an airline, and re-secured them.
And on that note, i didn’t connect the battery at all!!! No airbags have been hurt in the making of this thread! Lol. Maybe i should be though!
And yeh, I’ve put a thread up asking about a reader, so hopefully someone may be able to help out.
Thanks for your helpD3 with lots of d4 extras!

Hi
Can’t see the pre tensioner wires in ur pic
Indeed , ref, asking if someone is near u with a code reader as I feel that’s really the only way to pin it down
Yes, always best to disconnect ur battery before messing around with any airbag connectors
Plse let us know how u get on

Did you find a solution for this as my airbag light has just come on and is staying on every trip now.
MOT is up soon so need to get it sorted.
Thanks, Cobby.

Woohoo!
Finally managed to get my airbag light sorted! Had another good look yesterday, and managed to pinpoint where the problem was..
I worked out that the light wouldn’t come on if i wasn’t in the drivers seat. But as soon as i sat on it and did a bit of a wiggle the light would come on. So, took the top of the seat off and had a good look around, had a wiggle of the pretensioner wires from the seat belt, nothing, but when i applied weight to the seat frame the light would come on! It had to be something getting trapped by the frame. So had a closer look at the pre-tensioner wires where they ran down the side of the seat and were tie wrapped. Eventually managed to get a bit of slack in the wires and it then became obvious that there was a bit of wire that had worn through and was getting trapped by the seat frame, totally hidden from view. So yeh, taped it up and hey presto no more air bag light, just in time for its MOT in 6 weeks.

There was a rather loud cheer from myself when I turned the ignition on and that pesky light stayed off
My neighbour thought I was nuts
