Airbag Warning Light
On starting the vehicle today the airbag warning light came and now every time the vehicle is started the warning light goes off for a second and then comes on again and stays on.
The question is once the airbag warning light has come is the fault latched until it is reset?
The reason why I ask is I was wondering if it is it worth remating the connectors around the front seats to see if that clears the fault warning or am I just wasting my time because the fault is latched?
If it is worth trying something what should be tried?
I would try a trip to the dealer. Let them handle it under warranty.
It may be a symptom/sign of a defective rotary coupler clockspring thingy in your steering column.Did you think I would leave you crying,

Unfortunately, Disco White, the vehicle is 3 1/2 years old and is out of warranty.
Is the defective rotary coupler clockspring something that Land Rover admits is a design fault and as such will sort free of charge even out of the warranty period?
It should be noted that the vehicle had a history of this warning light coming on, the first occurance after 1.5 miles from new, although it is probably 1.5 to 2 years since it last came on.
Is there anything that can be tried such as remating connectors to clear the fault?

If the fault was first noted in warranty and has not (as is obviously the case) been properly fixed, you should still expect your dealer to push for warranty to cover it.

I think you are missing the point.
How do you know it's a rouge warning light, maybe there is an unfixed airbag fault ??????
previous comment is right, if it's unfixed then it should still be covered. But as it's a safety feature that could well save a life - get it fixed then discuss who pays, or don't drive it.
Me thinks driving with the light on is a bit like driving with a 12" spike sticking out of the steering wheel - you just don't want to be doing it "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Dealer should fix. Safety issue.
If not write a letter to them and Copy LR customer care, stating that if in the event of an accident and the airbag failing to go off they may be liable.

Mine had this fault, it was the connectors by the seat that were at fault, cost £50 to have the dealer sort it as out of warranty and not covered under the extended 'select' scheme 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

mine came on at start of jan
went to dealers and they fixed it foc
said it was a loose multi plug under pass seat nd they also said there was a glitch on the computer and cleared that as well
dunc life is tooooo short.enjoy the moment.dont worry be happy

Out of left field.
I had the same problem until I tightened the leads to the battery. The voltage drop must of been enough to set off the airbag warning light. I cleaned the terminals and the leads and now all is well.
Not saying that this is your problem.06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Thanks Desert Traveller for your response. When you tightened the leads did you remove the battery lead during the process?
I was begining to think that the airbag fault could only be cleared by via OBDII test equipment.
On older vehicles it used to be the case that it was possible to clear the faults by disconnecting the battery, but I did not think that that applied to the Discovery 3 but perhaps it does.
Ideally what I would like to do would be to clear the fault and see if it returns. If it does then it is off to the dealer.
