Aircon / heater issues

Morning all,

I'm back with another newby question...

When i first bought my D4 the aircon/fans made a weird vibration sound coming from around the glove-box area - after a day of leaving alone it sorted itself out, happy days!

Unfortunately the issue has happened again and wont stop... absolute nightmare in this heat.

I thought it was a blocked pollen filter so i removed and tested, that didn't sort.

It sounds like the vibrations are happening inside the black boxy thing below the pollen filter.

Anyone know what this is actually called (the boxy thing aha)?

Will get a video later if anybody wants but was going to rip it out this weekend and try sort.

Following on from the above i have found out what its called...

Heater blower matrix.

Does anybody have instructions or schematics on how to remove it?

Just attached a photo of what's making the vibrations.

I'm hoping I don't need to take the whole matrix out and I can just remove the bit in the picture?

Bumping this post.

Anyone got any idea if this is a easy(ish) job before i send it to the mechanic?

The noise is worse when fans spin more, but even on its lowest setting its loud.

Mine does the same but its ok upto mid fan speeds then starts to vibrate after this i suspect its either something on the fan blade unbalancing it or the bearings have gone i need to add it to the to do list

Sorted mine this is what I found when I removed the fan

Looks like a small dog biscuit no idea how it got in there other than it was sat on top of the cabin filter and fell down when I changed it, I removed the offending item re fitted the fan and now all is good again
