Aircon Leaks - Where ?
My aircon inthe D3 is not working properly again....
I had it repaired last May and regassed etc but its stopped pumping out cold air again.
Ive got the chap from GoCool coming round on saturday to have a look, but just wondered what peoples experiences were with where any leaks were occurring.
I'll start it off with :
1) corroded pipe under LHS front foot well

anywhere else ?
Thanks Duncan

Joints half way along car (just to the rear of the air reservoir) also the conenctions to the actual compressor
Small amounts of oil leaking is also a good tell-tale (the oil is sometimes green in colour)Never get mad - get even !!

Hopefully when it was repaired last time they put dye in, so look for green patches. Common places are as you said, also sometimes by the rear diff where the pipes go up over. On the main pipe in the engine bay by the high pressure connection port passenger side of the engine (usually oily around there if leaking).
Regards
Steve

I'm taking mine in today to get the aircon radiator replaced. It has a big leak on it that looks like it may be down to corrosion. I'll know more when it's off. It's a six year old car

I think the dye they use reacts with uv light so they can use a uv light to find leaks easier

Just picked mine up.
The radiator for the aircon seems to have definitely corroded although exactly where I am not sure other than down in the bottom right hand side. My mate said he dug a lot of debris out between the rads. This vehicel has had a really easy life .... so far never been off road so I guess it is down to road salt and general crap gathering.
Im now £280 lighter but nice and cold.

I am just getting these air con pipes replaced this Saturday, having got the new pipes and had a go at doing it myself and failed, I have taped all the exposed pipe work on the new pipes so when it is fitted to the car there will be a degree of protection from salt etc
Thanks

yes, mine also corroded at the rear under the rear door - replaced the whole length with flexible pipe - a lot cheaper than aliminium pipe bent to shape the car Duncan

I know this is an old thread, but has anybody had a leak from rear aircon looking as though it is coming from the the water leak off pipe dripping onto the rear mudflaps?

Yes, it looks as though it is not only water coming from the pipe but the oil also, it has left oil residue on the rear mudflap and a puddle of green oil on the floor, the green being the dye I would presume.I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
