Aircon pipes- need fitting instructions
Has anyone replaced the pipes that travel alongside the chassis member to the rear aircon on 2006 HSE?
Parts ordered from TLO and aircon man organised to fit. He says it looks simple but has not done one before,so I thought to make sure I would ask you guys. I can,t find anything by searching!
Thx in advance,
Bernie

You need to remove the suspesnsion reservoir (2 bolts each end and one pipe) then undo the two pipes at each end and the three nuts that hold the pipes to the body. Refit in reverse.

Hi Q86ARR, Many thanks for your help. Is there any procedure to follow when refitting the suspension reservoir or does it automatically sort itself out when engine starts?
Thx

Start the engine and select off road height. It will slowly fill the system.
Just passed this information on to the guy who is doing the same job to my car
We put axle stands under the chassis in case releasing the pressure caused the car to lower from off-road height but it didn't.Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

The brackets supporting the pipes are secured by nuts/studs. These are so corroded that the studs shear off as soon as they see a spanner
Luckily, Graham Stobbs of Cool Auto (http://www.coolauto.co.uk/) who did mine had a "rivnut" tool so he drilled some new holes and fitted "rivnuts" to them. Had to reposition the brackets but at least the pipes are fully supported now.
The air suspension reservoir was a to refit too as the air pipe decided it didn't want to connect to it any more for some reason. The pipe is connected to a nut that is attached to the rear of the reservoir. Graham had to loosen this until he could connect the air pipe to it, then carefully tighten both in small increments until both were tight.
Got there in the end though and now my aircon is like new. In fact, when he tested it on the lowest fan setting, the outside temp was 23 degrees and the temp of the air blown in from the aircon dropped to 2 degrees until the thermostat tripped in to prevent the evaporator from icing up. It then maintained that temp between 2 and 5 degrees - bloody lovely.
Many thanks to Graham for a great job Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
