I have a really annoying intermittent alarm fault which is driving me and my neighbours crazy....
Is there a way of disconnecting the alarm sounder without it defaulting to the horns or completely disabling the alarm until we find what is tripping it??
I have tried all the usual suspects for the alarm triggering but it is so intermittent it is proving a real pain to find..... ------------------------------

On the key fob press the lock button twice (within 3 seconds). This is what you are meant to do if you have a dog in the vehicle or you are on a ferry.

Bonnet switch bypassed.........we have spent months trying to sort this.
It is totally random, it behaves for weeks and then has a total sh!tfit all night or all day. Just constantly setting itself off. It will then stop and behave. this is why it is almost impossible to trace this fault.....
I think she is attention seeking...........!! ------------------------------

Do you have any battery issues is the car used regularly and for longer runs as short runs kill the battery can you monitor it either that or maybe you have a breaking/lose wire in the alarm circuit which would be really fun to find i would think Discovery 3 se gone

How about trying to muffle the alarm? Wrap it in bubble wrap etc? Or open it and cut off the beeper. I heard of a house alarm that kept the whole estate awake one weekend until a builder with a ladder and a can of expanding foam sorted it.

Not battery issues.........!
Muffling the sounder is going to mean it will continue to flash the hazards all night and send power to the sounder and leave me with a flat battery in the morning. .
I have found if I start the car and move it, then it cures the problem for that evening or that alarm sounding session.......... ------------------------------

Mine sometimes goes off at night but only rings for about 30 seconds and then goes to sleep again. The only reason I'd know it had set off is the rapid flashing when I unlock it.

Sorry for digging up old thread but I've got a similar issue - did you manage to resolve yours? If so, what was the cause in the end? 2007 Discovery 3 HSE

Never found the fault..........it doesn't do it for months on end and then will have a total sh!t-fit. I have found if I start the car and move it, even back into it's original parking space it stops it going off again that night/day?
It hasn't done it since I changed the compressor..........whether that is just coincidence I don't know

Mine has gone off a couple of times randomly. Traced it to the car still thinking the key is in the ignition when it isnt and showing the message on the dash display. The way I know when it does this is it also has a delay between pressing the lock button and it actually locking. Key in and out a couple of times normally sorts it. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

Put some graphite powder in the lock / on the key & work in. That should sort it. I had this on the old P38.
