Aldi Stove Fan

Like the eco fans I''ve fancied for a while but at a no risk price. Wasn't going to spank £90+ on one of these when I'm not convinced of the benefit or suitability for our room.

£15 currently in Aldi so less ventured when less than expected gained. Have to say I'm not blown away, so I'm glad I didn't splash out. I think our square 5m lounge with 3m ceilings and an 8kw stove does just fine without a fan, of whatever price or quality.

Happy paying £15 though to watch its little blades spin round if nothing else.

Always fancied one to watch, also didn't want to spend loads on it. Might see if I can pick one up!

I made the same mistake a few years ago and bought cheap.
I had a mate who swore by his £100 fan.
!st time I visited him I took the fan with me and have to say no comparison
The expensive one moved the heat all round his home heating it up, the cheap one just spun for the sake of spinning and is now probably in landfill somewhere.
When funds allow I'll be splashing out on one.

Makes a big difference with one of our log burners that is quite recessed in a very big stone fireplace.
It might have made a difference to how hot our oak mantle gets in another and finally have one on a burner that almost certainly doesn't need it in the dog room, but it's handy to use as a visual gauge for how hot the surface of the burner is...and I quite like the look of them anyway.

Oh, and come the zombie apocalypse (or hard Brexit! Wink) I can repurpose the peltier generator to charge up batteries! Smile

Interesting.. I got a cheap one from Charlie's that spins dutifully and I like it but I have to admit I don't think it actually makes much difference. I never really thought an 'expensive' one would perform much differently? Maybe worth a try then.

Ive got a video somewhere of the 2 of them
Hold a tissue in front of the cheap one even although its spinning well and tissue hardly moves.

Hold it in front of the expensive one and it blows away.

One reviewer on the Aldi site says he put a bend in the blades to improve air flow. Not sure how exactly.

Still unconvinced that I need a £100, properly designed fan with decent sized/shaped blades though.

It's funny, but I never feel the heat exactly radiating from our stove, which is a higher KwH rating than the space really needs. Probably a good thing when I'm sat a few metres away. But as soon as I leave the room at the end of the night I can appreciate it.

My foraged log supply is finally coming on stream this winter so I should save a bit on fuel costs from now. I supplement logs with Blazers Heat Logs, but they're so popular there are none available anywhere yet and they've yet to complete their new factory to meet demand. Any one else use these?
