This is something i fancy doing, but I worry about the extra stress on the 100,000 mile gearbox and engine.
Should I worry?

both motor and box should easily take it but warranty implications are stuff I would be more concerned about

Likewise - warranty concerns are the only thing holding me back on this. I cannot imagine the dealers approve but after having my D3 mapped, I would love to do the same to the D4.

I think the worries of engines expiring at 100k ended 20 odd years ago, on the other hand engines that have a poor reputation for cranks failing

I'm intrigued. I don't need any more power but the hesitation from the off at a junction is frightening at times. Will this remap resolve this?
Reporting back after 2 weeks of remap fun. The hesitation is still there but it happens much less and when it does happen it isn't as drastic. Would highly recommend a remap.

This is on my todo list as well, was hoping the hesitancy would be history with this ? Fuel consumption much better ? Insurance should not be too bad with it neither.

Anyone got a comparison with this map and a BAS remap? I believe BAS maps can be put on the IID tool and you can also keep your original map on there also and switch between the two for any reasons that may occur
EDIT: just had a reply from Pete at BAS and nothing available after the MY14 and the IID remap is in the 2.7 D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
D3 HSE MY06 missing her still…

I've spoken to someone who had their D3 remapped and its very tempting to get the D4 done, should I wait to get the belts done first as its nearly due being 6 years old now?

Thinking of it as a business - higher sales margin when selling to end customers directly? I’d make the reasonable assumption that their recon volume is constrained by a. amount of technicians, b. availability of engines that can be repaired.
Just a thought.

I had my 16MY remapped from virtually new (2k miles running in) by Alive tuning and it is simply amazing. The way it drives for such a big heavy brick of a car always always makes me smile. I tow a large TA caravan too which I have to constantly remind myself when it is on the back. 30k miles later I've never had any issues nor do I expect to which is why I had no issue getting it done whilst under warranty and now beyond
