Fitted the new nuts today. All went on superbly and look really good. So much better than the poxy capped ones and no worries about them getting rust under the caps. Will get a picture when it stops raining but would highly recommend them.

Batting, be thankful you didn't buy the ones that I did. Got around to fitting them today, or at least tried two. Gave up after the first two.

Material is very soft and the threads are a poor fit. Stripped them out when trying to fit them.

Absolute pile of s Censored t. They'll be going back tomorrow.

Ive watched this thread just wondering....
.....there has to be a difference to precision machined ones, with known good material at 190 pounds
& a full set for 40 or 50 pounds...from where ?

Importantly - a wheel nut is an essential fixing - very much a safety thing.
Im hanging on to afford the Wrington ones....

This chap in his Jag getting wheels changed in front of me had a wheel nut snap and there was nothing they could do after trying to usual, including welding a nut on Shocked

He took it quite well - I would have a been a bit Censored off Rolling with laughter

I have also now fitted a set of the solid nuts. Agree that quality seems solid. Have been told in the Disco 3 Facebook group that they rust terribly but I assume it will show after some time. It was a pleasure fitting them and to dump the old ones. I saved the old ones which where ok, All three of them... Rolling with laughter

Mine have been on a week now and has only been used once so has been sat there for the rest and no signs of tarnishing of any kind.

Looked at the ones off the E bay site - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111810992021?clk...mvSB=true.

Was interested until i read the amazing set of terms and conditions attached including: -

7.2 The Warranties in clause 7.1 shall not apply if the Products are:

a) modified in any way after purchase;

b) mishandled or cared for negligently such being cleaned with an acid based cleaner;

c) damaged as a result of a road hazard or heavy impact;

d) used with a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight which exceeds its maximum load bearing;

e) used beyond normal driving conditions (e.g. competition and motorsports racing or off road);

g) not installed or fitted by someone with the necessary expertise to do so; - need to be a professional mechanic etc?

etc.

So not suitable for a vehicle with Off Road capabilities. Not sure what an insurance company would say about this product, great get out though.

State they are equivalent to OE but based on this not so.

I just removed the caps and used them plain, as I have Plastidip painted wheels I needed them black so, stick them on the front wheels for a month or two, brake dust turns them black then swap front to back!
As we all know brake dust sticks like #%&@!

Hi all,

Been lurking on this thread since picking up my D3 on Monday.

After checking firstly that I can get all of the locking nuts off (which I can, thankfully!) And finding out that, as expected, some of the OE nuts are no longer... quite 22mm, decided to replace the job lot.

I have also gone for a set as purchased by Batfink. Comments above regarding warranty taken on board, but I will re-assess when up and running. I would rather balance these against not being able to remove a wheel in an emergency, at least until I get to know the vehicle.

Quick question before fitting them over the weekend, what torque do the wheel nuts need on these vehicles (again, appreciate these replacements are not OE).

Very Best,
Rik.

I torqued all mine to 140nm as per the Haynes manual. I have also purchased a second set for my wife's Fiesta as that had crappy capped nuts too. Mine have been washed a couple of times now and still look nice and shiny.

As my Land Rover tool snapped trying to get the original nuts off I purchased an extending bar and a 22mm impact socket which are now both kept in the car. Also the impact socket was invaluable for hammering onto the old rusted nuts which had swollen.
