2005 LR3 TDV6 HSE Auto Unknown ColourLR3
Alternators

Hi all.

i have just recently taken over my granddads D3. he has had it from new, its a 05 plate he has had three alternators Shocked . every time land rover has repaired the problem they have not given us a good reason to why this is happening.

Does anyone know to why this is happening Very Happy

Battery knackered and taking the alternator with it would be my guess. But as a non techie, best wait on a knowledgeable answer. Whistle

As another non techie - maybe an over tensioned drive belt?

How did you guess - no beer for 48 hours then England go and beat the ikkle Sri Lankans so its beer oclock!!

Only 47mpg - not run in yet then - im only jealous.

It must be a sensible car as my accountant has one!!

Enjoy (former beemer owner but had to get rid due to right foot getting too many points Shocked )

Yep, not yet run in properly. If it improves a wee bit I'll be getting 50mpg cruising at 75 - 80mpg. Smile Re fast driving, did a few ped to the met overtakes on the A9 and compared with my remapped D3 it's a rocket ship. Better keep an eye open for white vans in lay bys! Shocked

PS Jack you'll have noticed we're not that good at staying on topic here. Whistle

Well the old favourite would be a poor connection on the negative battery cable where it connects to the body.

But surely the dealer would have traced it.
